Default Looking for best purchase price for Canon IPF5000...

Luminous Landscape says:

As of December, 2006, the price of the iPF5000 has dropped in the US to between $1,495 and $1,695.

What is the current best price for an IPF5000, and anyone have ideas on why the price drop? (is canon about to release an even better model? Or is it competition from???)

Thanks!

I found http://www.colorhq.com/index.asp?Pag...ROD&ProdID=481

Which also has free shipping (which is probably worth a couple hundred for the IPF5000 due to it's size and 99lb weight -- it ships on a pallette!)

They're at $1395 with free shipping, but if you also want the roll feed (which I do) they will include it for only $100 if purchased with the printer instead of $250 like digitalgraphicresources.

Any better prices available for the IP5000?

http://www.itsupplies.com has it for $1295 with free shipping once you add it to your cart to show the rebates.

If you add the IPF5000 Auto Roll Feed Unit to your cart at the same time right now it adds it for only $199

So you can have the IPF5000 with Roll Feed for $ 1,494

Any deals going on the IPF5000 now? Would you buy one now a year later vs. an Epson 4880?

In late April there were a number of limited-time trade-in specials offering $500 off an IPF 5100 or 6100 for a trade-in of a nice list of older printers. I don't see any that are currently offering this, but maybe it will come back. The good news is that you can get a 5100 now for slightly less than the cost of a 5000 a year ago and the integrated roll feed should be much better as the old IP5000 add-on roll feed caused people some problems, as well as the better dithering/dot screen since the 5000 was released.
