According to HP, the expired ink message can be overridden, but no one can tell me how, including HP Support Norway.

The seller, TechOnWeb.com (US) does not respond to my mails. I have tried three adresses: care / sales / billing@techonweb.com for two weeks, but no reply yet. Anyone here with any experience with this company? I'm not that fluent in English, so I was hoping they could find out for me how to override.

"can-ink2" at Ebay offer a chip resetter card for HP z2100 for 245 USD. It seems like this is the only solution available other than HP's own overriding. Any one here had any experience with "can-ink2" (Canada)?

MIS Associates seems to be specialist in this field, but even they comfirm that there are no workaround for the problem.

I have many spare, original cartridges that will probably expire the same day I put them in, so a solution is very much wanted.

I know that I may see variations in the print when using "old" ink, but I doubt it. This is probably yet another way for HP to sell more ink. I'm not very happy about this, but I am very satisfied with this $4.000 printer (44") itself.

    Hi Arnstien,

You can order plastic bottoms with auto reset chips from Macro Enter. Essentially you will be replacing the expired chips with new ones so you will be able to worth with your expired ink cartridges. The cost is about $5 per chip

Fantastic. Do you have a (EBay)link?

30 seconds later: I saw the product name now. Sorry. Hopfully I'll find them.

Hi Arnstein, I tried to PM you but it didn't let me. I just checked their site, but found they only had resettable chips, which could be ok, but you will need a chip resetter to about $18 more. but still better than the alternatives.

I don't know how a can "allow PM's". Didn't find anything about that in my profile. Clicking on your name, didn't gave a PM-option either.
    BTW, my mail is arnstein@bjone.no
I have posted a message in online chat with Macro enter, and are waiting for a reply. Thank you very much for your help.
I will post a message on how everything turns out.
My my main consern now is the 13 unopened HP cartridges I have (bought the with the printer july 2008). I expect they will expire the very same moment I install them...

I'm 55 years old, architect/structural engineer/photographer/computer nerd, and have been surfing the net since the early 90-ties. I know when I have found a superb supplier, like this Macro Enter. Thanks again Brian!!

Sorry - the reason that URL is blocked is because Macro Enter spammed the forum here with some fake product recommendation posts (or maybe some promotion company thought spamvertising was the way to go.) In any event, sorry for the confusion, and glad you found what you were looking for Arnstein and thanks for the recommendation Brian.

I'm not sure if the forum admin will allow this, but I try. (see post above)

I received the 8 chips and the chip resetter from MacroEnter yesterday, and it all worked like a charm. I have put up a "review" and illustrated the process here.
I am praising them for helping me (and "Adam" here at the forum who gave me the tip), but as I say in my "review", I'm in no way affiliated with MacroEnter so this is not spamvertising.
I am pissed of by HP. They do say that the expired ink message can be overridden, but they can't tell me how (HP Support Norway).

Many other HP-owners are pissed off too, like this guy

I'm just very happy for being able to use the remaining 13 unopened, original cartridges. Not so much for the money, but more for being able to "thumb HP's nose".

    Certainly - thanks Arnstein!

Appreciate the time you took to document it and share it with others.

That URL is blocked because this last year someone tried to post that URL with a fake review; in such cases the action is to censure the URL to keep them from piling on the spam or worse fraudulent fake reviews that could lead people astray. But one bad apple spamming/fake reviewing/or whatever reason they posted spamvertising in the past doesn't mean we have anything against the product or company and certainly not against any real person who uses and reviews a product legitimately. It's too bad the bad apples can make things more difficult for everyone.

Anyway, thanks again for the review. And glad you found something that works well for you.

i hope i have understood the question correctly - on my printer if i put in an expired ink, it just tells me to click "ok" by which i agree that HP cannot be responsible for any unsatisfactory results. and that's it. maybe the behaviour is different for printers purchased in different countries...
