Can a UPS protect a Canon IPF machine?

    Hi,

A very common problem with Canon IPF machines is that a suction or mist fan can fail (error 2f17) and this in turns blows out and damages the main board PCB.

I have spoken to a Canon engineer and he says that if the machine is plugged into an Uninterupted Power Supply, it can protect the machine and prevent surges within the machine that happen if one part fails.

Is this true? As i am very sceptical as i have a friend who runs several IPF machines, who says that he has still experienced 2F17 and blown fuses even when connected to a UPS.

    Many thanks
