So, I am very new to printing. I was given a 9800 when a company went out of business. I tried to print some of my work and I was not pleased with the results. Then I learned a little bit about color management and got a monitor calibrator. I am still not happy with the prints.

I guess the next thing to do is purchase a rip. I have been looking at the color burst and a few others and the prices are expensive.

Is a rip what I need to get the desired outcome? My desired outcome is a close match to what I see on my monitor. If so, what are you guys using with the 9800?

The printer did not have original inks. I am about to purchase some Epson ink and some better paper. I do have a calibrated monitor. I have the color eyes v1.

The 9800 will work with the old Ilford Studio RIP which I used to have. This is very similar to the Onyx RIP Center that I might be buying for the new printer.

You should be able to pick up a used copy very cheaply indeed. Check the dongle comes with the disk.
