I do not have a minolta 2500W specifically but since no one else has replied yet so far here's my 2 cents:

Slightly apples and oranges, but I've refilled hp and canon cartridges a few hundred times to date. I have yet to find a non-OEM refill toner that prints better than an OEM toner, so I'd say yes it is really better to buy a new oem toner. Even if the toner quality of the non-oem toner is great, and even though these modular type cartridges are built to not wear out before the page yield is reached and thus have some extra life after running out of toner, I think you do get some extra minor imperfections, jitter, and imperfect distribution as the plastic gears, small rollers, and cleaning blades wear a bit and become slightly contaminated over time. But I would not hesitate to refill either for general use printing... I'd say on average I got 90%+ OEM quality at a substantial savings when refilling.

I'm glad to run all contract printers now as refilling was a bit of a messy job though.
