When you say steels do you mean the Rilsan type or copper? I seem to recall that most Sprints had Rilsan coated steels.

Does the staining come off with ordinary solvent or do you have to use hard ink remover? What inks do you use - oil based, veg based or fully oxidising?

Check all the roller train for contact - correct nip widths are important.

richardk could u explain about correct nip widths especially for fountain metering roller...i run new LS540+c(2008)...ink/water ration 120/120 we alway have water drop, scumming, emulsification etc...and our blanket and plate after 2@3 pile very dirty with ink even outside of the printed area.is that sign of ink/water is not stable?our fountain circular from cosmotech and with no conductivity meter...we shut off the copper roller chiller because of the all the problem i have mention above

I think the nip width is 4mm for the damp roller to chrome roller and from chrome roller to meter roller.
You should try a different type of fountain solution to see if anything changes.

The copper chiller roller is suppose to help with ink and water balance after the press starts running and everything heats up. The press I use to run we had the chiller set at 66-68 degrees fahrenheit.
