Do you guys run your presses at or near full speed? I never have
with older equipment and the last shop I was at we never ran an
    SM-74-6 over about 11.

I get on a good run and will get up to 14ish. Kinda scary but it goes
well. Of course water catches up to me and I have to juice the hell
out of it and/or stop and wipe down the meters.

What do you think of running near full speed?

Depends on the job and the press... on the 9985 (3302)... he runs 6000 - 7000 for quality.... 10000 (max) for a low coverage, not too important registration job....

That sounds about like my press, Glenn, chamber coater and all. Good to see someone else is running fast...

I run my GTO52-2 at about 5000 sph. Faster run causes minor sheets misregistration. It is very slow press for today's standards. Print quality is comparable to hi-tech presses, but makeready and print speed is way to low. I need to replace this press with modern 4-colour one - as soon as there will be ready new building for my shop.

    LMAO jetscreamer! Couldn't agree more.
I run plastic exclusively...mostly very short runs. So I poke along at 7 to 8 grand. Generally run 14 to 20 jobs a day. Keeps the bindery buried...which is always my goal.
