Extremely hard to communicate with and sent me to a wild goose chase! They were really bad to deal with! I had lot's of hope when I read the message above, but I enquired and was told it was just about ready please email in a few months,..I did this and then after a few more enquiries after weeks and even more months, I found out that it was only maid for the printing of envelopes industry. Specialised inkjet printers printing only spot colours(or something like this, not CMYK etc). I was pretty much treated like I was bothering them every time I enquired, (even though they told me to enquire after a few months). They wasted my time for months and in the end (even after I mentioned I wanted to print photos with the ink)..they realised what they had wasn't for photo inkjet machines! They seemed to be very ignorant about photo inkjet printers(cmyk) in general.(for purposes of photo printing or graphic design)

I apologize for your poor experience with Collins. However, I believe there has been some miscommunication. For 20 years, we have specialized in industrial inkjet inks for the mailing/addressing, package coding, transactional etc. markets. We have a wide variety of black inks, spot colors, inks for difficult substrates, and bulk solutions. If one of our inks doesn't meet your needs, we can custom create an ink for your specific application. Yet, we have never claimed to have inks for photo printers. As the previous post explains, we did have a metallic silver ink for the HP 45a cartridge, which was typically used to create decorative impressions. The reason you were told to check back in a few months is because our supplier of raw silver material, discontinued their product. Collins has a very thorough testing and validation procedure which has eliminated most possible replacement materials. Due to this, we continue our search for an acceptable silver.
Again, I apologize that we could not be of assistance for your application, but just to be clear, Collins manufactures industrial inks for:

    - HP TIJ 45A technologies
    - Kodak Versamark printing systems (2.77', 4”, and 9")
    - CIJ and DOD printheads
    - UV curable systems

Collins has been so successful because of our close relationship with our customers. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us.

    Metallic inkjet

Check out the Roland inkjet printer that prints metallic ink, I think lists for around $8K.
OR the Epson WT that prints white ink (on a metallic substrate - get very nice metallic FX).

www.Color-Logic.com is a very cool metallic FX system - provides the design tools for Photoshop and Illustrator to add very cool FX.

maybe a long shot, but have you looked up toner foil. it works after you print on laser printer you put it through a laminator and the foil sticks to the laser print. then i assume you can print again over the top of it... ?????

lol just realised this original post is 5 years old
