    Hi,
the same document i print from different computers with the same printer (epson R2880) gives the completely different results. what is the problem? i print out from InDesign files and in both computers (IOS) the color settings are the same. I'm confused. What can be the problem? has it smth to do with the printer driver versions?? (i don't think so.) or what????

To be sure, you print out the exact same indesign file from both computers, and colors are way off? (if it were different indesign files, I would ask the rudimentary question if the monitors on both computers were calibrated. Even then there can be monitor differences depending on the monitors and calibration system used.) Do you get the same difference if you print out the same pdf from both computers through adobe reader / acrobat instead?

I don't really know all that much about digital, but if you print the same file, either PDF or original program, its not in the program. I doubt its in the printer, therefore, I suspect the printer drivers in each computer is not the same. Just a thought.

Download a fresh driver, the latest from the epson official site, and install as an additional printer on both computers (just name this new printer something else so you can keep the old driver/settings too.)

You may think your color settings are the same. But its quite possible two different ICC color profiles are being used (these defaults can be changed and you be none the wiser) Check the color profiles on both machines and in adobe indesign.

SWOP is the default color profile, however many people these days including myself use Gracol7 as it produces a wider gamut for those printer that can hit it.

In any event, event the slightest difference in ICC profile will result in different color when converted to LAB and then finally to your output. A new driver may change default ICC's as well..

I also experienced the same problem. So does that mean the source of the problem is the driver, not the printer? I had a feeling that the ink cartridges caused my problem, or maybe it was just me being too paranoid. The colors were too pale and didn't look the same as on what I was expecting. I got them here cartridgesdirect.com.au/Lexmark . I hope someone helps!

It sounds like the cartridges direct cartridges may be a non-oem knockoff that don't have the same pigment as the oem cartridge. What printer do you have? Do you have a way to apply a custom calibration to it? If not, go back to the oem lexmark cartridges and see if the color is dramatically better (matched to the driver you are using).
