Last week we started the Indigo 1050.

It gave a couple of times an High voltages on ITM lamp I believe.
Everything started en it was in ready state.

After a couple of minutes the ITM was cooling down.
We checked the lamp. It was broken.

    Today I installed another lamp.
The machine has run a couple of sheets.
I noticed the ITM had problems to stay in the right temperatur range.
The machine stopped a couple of times because of over and under temp.

After half an hour it was pretty stable.
We shut down the machine and after 10 minutes we started it again.
The ITM heated up. And than it was broken again.

Does anyone know what this can be?

    Kind regards,
    Rob

    Hi Rob,
Check/Replace the RTD sensor on the left side of the blanket cylinder. It sounds like the machine isn't getting a accurate temp reading. Also, from the back of the machine check the bias contact, replace if it's worn down. If its not the RTD or contact, check the SSR next to the main circuit breakers is turning on and off correctly.

    Hi Jonathon,

    Thanks for the support.
Is it also possible that there is something wrong with the voltage regulation for the lamp? Or some lose contact.

What is the BIAS contact for?

Attached a picture of the lamp.
Is it possible the lamp gets so hot it melts or is this because of wrong power?

Do you perhaps know where I can order a new one?

Next week we have the machine here and I can test and check everything.

    Kind regards,
    Rob

    Hi Rob,
I would say that the lamp is overheating due to being told to stay on for extended periods, I really would check the RTD. If it isn't making contact with the blanket drum the machine would be thinking the temperature is lower than it really is and holding the lamp on.

The lamp power is controlled from the machine supply so I doubt you have the wrong power supply, you would have massive issues if you a supply problem.

Is the lamp you installed a spare part from HP or is it something you sourced yourself? If you sourced it, confirm the voltage of the lamp you purchased is the same as the original. The lamps have a voltage mark on the side.

The Bias contact is to charge the blanket - this is separate to the power supply for the lamp. You should get a HVPS error if it is a charge problem.

    Cheers,
    Jonathon

    Hello Jonathon,

    That makes sense.
The lamp is a used one, but original. 209 volt.

I will post my findings next week.

    Kind regards,
    Rob
