We recently purchased a SM-52-P from Wayne Graham Machinery Ltd. Which I must say we where initially pleased with, all the presale contact and advice was excellent which lead us to believe this is a good reputable company! however machine was sold with 30 day guarantee (which maybe in hindsight was to little although I did push for more but was refused) and after using our 2 day training period to install and fix up machine and replace parts that were broken we were left with very little training. We persevered and basically trained ourselves taking a month or so. Having done this, all was clearly NOT well!! We called out an engineer he informed us that all the rollers were shot and several bearings too. Annoyingly Mark Hornsby, Wayne Grahams salesman clearly told me that all the rollers were in great shape and the machine was printing perfectly! This was not the case. I contacted Wayne Graham to see if there was some kind of compromise to get the rollers replaced as I was aware that the Guarantee had expired 2 weeks prior I thought that maybe a 50% contribution would be fair. The response I received was unbelievable stating that if I had of contacted them within the 4 weeks they would of replaced them all. They even quoted the engineer that installed the machine saying that he knew that the rollers were no good and this caused a problem setting up the machine!! After spending £57,000 on a machine I did not think that I was being unreasonable to ask for 50% of the repair cost I would strongly advise that you do not purchase any equipment from WAYNE GRAHAM MACHINERY LIMITED although they seem to be a very professional company with a level of customer service that you would expect – Don’t be fooled!!!
I would also like to say i have worked with WGM sevral times and i have had very good dealings with mark and Wayne, if you buy a secondhand press you should go and inspect the machine or if you are not of a mechanical knowledge get an engineer to inspect it. from what you have said wgm are completly right in this case and as they say the guarantee period is their for a reason , although i would think common sense should provail on both side and a contribution should be made in good faith but as i say wgm were right in this case. and you say you have spent 57K on the press so they should contribute, you dont actually know what their margin was on that machine and as i said before you should have inspected the press, afterall you wouldnt buy a car for 15K without going to see it would you... anyway good luck geting the press going and i hope you can come to a solution that both parts are happy with
I must also speak in WGM defence, as I have also known, and worked with them for many years and found the service provided second to none!
When purchasing a second hand press, theres just no question about how important it is to inspect and to do some homework on the press. Surely when installation is complete - dont you guys sign off a check sheet confirming all aspects of the press is in order. If this was done then a simple inspection of the rollers would have been picked up and queried before hand over??? Just my 2cents
If it is a refurbished machine you can sue them in the consumer court no matter of guarantee but if your deal is as it is you have to bear all . Above all a trust worthy service + equipment seller should explained all the faults before selling it, But some purchaser far away and belongs to other countries cant do any test run all depends upon the trust worthy and the good will earned Now . even if a new purchaser will think thousand time to deal such a type of companies through the forum brought the fraudulent deal .
