I am new so I will speaking in desciptive terms because i don't know the real ones. I have changed out the cylinder/valve unit on a speedmaster 52 because it would not retract and allow the the arm connected to the grippers to return to its original state. This didn't help. Still doing the samething. I did pull one wire off the new cylinder/valve and it retracted. Just wondering if there is to much airpressure comming to it. Thanks for any help.

Im guessing your talking about the cylinder valve unit for the transfer gripper at the infeed. Most likely not too much air pressure, the same air pressure operates that unit as the ones on the rest of the machine. Confirm that we are talking about the same unit.

Check the front allignment eyes. Make sure you are getting a response from them using the MID on the feeder. Also, make sure they are set properly.

    Hi,
I was adviced from a mechanic to replace the same cylinder valve unit because there is an audible air leakage. Furthermore he told me that this may be the reason of the following problem: '
"Most of the time i have to remove the first two sheets of the feeder stream otherwise the sheets are blocked at the front lays as overrun sheets"
    Any thoughts about that ?

    Thanks

Was this a Heidelberg Mechanic that told you this or was it a local mechanic that you are using? Usually, when the press detects an over run sheet it is because of incorrect setting of the front alignment eyes. The function of this pneumatic cylinder is to allow the transfer grippers to close once the paper stream has arrived at the head stops and not allow the grippers to close in the event of a double or misaligned sheet. It should have nothing to do with the fact that your press is detecting an early sheet. It will react because of an early sheet detection but will not be the cause of it.

Make sure your feeder timings are correct before setting front alignment eyes.
