    Setting Rollers

We are trying to set rollers in a SM 74. We have perfect stripes with the bridge roller to the water form roller (3mm) all the way across. When we check the strip to the ink form we get a stripe of 3 mm on drive side and 1/4 inch on the operators side. These are new rollers we are putting in. this is causing scumming and emulsifying problems.

Yeah, have a look at that spring adjustment as suggested, it could restrict it from dropping all the way.

we adjusted the spring . set the rollers and got a good stripe on both the water form and ink form. We then turned the press on, idled a couple minutes then rechecked the stripes and it was back to the same. Good stripe on the water form and the ink form 1/4 inch on operators side and 3mm on drive side.

Are you sure the thread on the side bracket or roller is not stripped, your thread could be worn and with the vibration when ideling the roller could jump a couple threads.

Aslo double check for play on the roller itself?

Turn the roller around and see what happens...

When we started to have this problem we checked threads on the side bracket and checked to see if the bearings on the bridge roller and it checked out fine.. We have never had this problem when putting new rollers in. We always been able to set the rollers and go. The roller company said they oversized the number 4 ink form by .25mm to last longer.

Try a diff roller or put an old one back in to see if it will set. This will give you a better idea where the issue is.
