I know there are only 2 adjustments for this unit.
The wash-up roller to the blanket and the metering roller to the wash-up roller

Does anyone have a simple way to adjust these settings? The book is so vague and frankly getting that unit to ink up well enough to check stripes is a real pain! We have an older QM that no matter what I do to these adjustments it just wants to track the image down the blanket and dump a load of solution on the OP side. Ther's gotta be a better way?

The wash-up roller is only a year old or so...it doesn't appear swollen or to have low spots/areas on it.

    Hi,

Too much solution generally means there is too much fluid between the blanket wash roller and the metering roller and this is cut down by the small screw at each end of the roller on the shaft. There should be approx 0.5mm movement of the blanket wash roller when pulled towards the mettering roller. Too little fluid means the opposit and the ink will pick up on the blanket wash roller and not be removed.
Have the black drive wheels been changed at all.

    Regards

Hi, I know this is an old thread,
    1. Change the nylon fittings that support the metering roller on both sides.
    2. Gap between Metering roller and Blanket Wash roller is best done with film on each end, ensure a light 'pull through', these can adjusted on was up body each side.
    3. Take out metering roller when that adjustment is done and ind up the blanket wash roller with a hand roller (a bit old fashioned), put wash up assembly into press ans activate SF 003 to contact blanket.
    4. Adjust to blanket to get a 4mm/5mm strip accross blanket. Do this 3 times to test everything is OK. You are now finished adjusting to the blanket, remove and re-fit metering roller.
    5. Soak felt with suitable water misible wash and add 10% water in to wash-up, (good tip is before adding water is to add 10% WHITE VINEGAR to the water this helps to supress any surfactants that build up on the blanket and helps with the cleaning), if there are to much dripples at blanket ends, adjust the metering roller only at the wash up, do this at a quarter turn for each try, the opposite applies if the blanket is to dry in places.

I hope this of help as I had to find out the long way. (Just re-built my QM 46, going very good !(.
