having a problem with how are pile advances up when running . this problem seems to happen on the 3rd time the pile comes up when running. the first 2 times pile comes up normal amount but on the third time it takes a large jump up usually causing the pile to come up to high causing problems.now i can still run the press but takes alot to get it to not double when the pile takes the larger move up. i know there is a adjusment for the switch in the head a nut that can be move up and down . I was adjusting this to keep problem in check but now i have run out of adjustment. So i am thinking that maybe the switch is worn and should be replace . Looking for any other causes. press is pm74 2005

You see the inductive sensor at the center upper position of your front standards? Sounds like that may be your issue.

Quite likely its the sensor in the govornor foot. Its really the only thing that controls the upward movement of the pile while the machine is in production. There is a remote possiblity it could be the pile motor itself as well. Inside the pile motor there are hall sensors that monitor the speed of the motor itself. If these sensors are begining to fail the motor could have some erratic movement. First the cheap simple repair, switch in the govornor foot. Unlikely the capacitive sensor in the center of the pile. This monitors the pile on its initial upward movment and when the machine is in non-stop mode.

Great point exheid. Just wondering if the capacitive (got it) sensor has to see the pile at all times. Production or not. Does the pile continue upward motion until the high limit at suction head is made?

While the feeder is on, the pile will continue upward intermittently until the switch on the governor foot is actuated. If the feeder is stopped it will continue upward continuously until the governor foot is actuated. I dont think the capacitive sensor needs to see the pile at all when not using non stop mode. If your going to run the pile out, the pile is well above the sensor for the last few sheets anyway.
