Set can follower 27mm from shaft (69.013.010) by turning the stop screw.

    Clamping grippers.

push clamping piece forward until the upper edge of the clamping piece aligns up exactly with the upper edge of the gripper. After all grippers are clamped in, check if the stop screw is still in contact with the stop. If not you pushed the clamping piece too far or you need to check your springs.

    Adjust individual grippers.

Insert a .6mm shims between the stopscrew and stop. Set grippers.

Rod 42.022.130 controls the gripper opening going into the feed board. ( End position of swing arm is at 265)

Ecentric bolt 69.013.047/b controls the opening of the gripper going to the impression cylinder. ( Grippers open at 329)

If you need more info, just mail me at laurowu@yahoo.com...Good luck!!

Just a few things you will need to do a swing gripper job. Degree wheel, post for degree wheel, zero gauge. Also, make sure you drill and pin the swing gripper before loosening the 3 10mm bolts on the swing arm. There are a few very precise adjustments that are next to impossible without a degree wheel. Many times the swing gripper does not need to be removed at all. Its not uncommon for the gripper operating lever to be bad and need replacing. Do you see rust coming out of the lever, or does the internal taper on the lever seem loose?

We are having a similar problem with our GTO 52. Swing Arm to impression cylinder transfer seems to be out of sync. We have tried adjusting the swing arm grippers with some success, but different stock thickness are an issue. If there is a proper procedure for setting the swing arm grippers and timing, we would appreciate obtaining it. I would like to start by checking that they are set correctly and then see where that leads us. It may be that we have a timing issue, or a worn part.
Sheets are tearing if set too tight, miss-register if too loose. Front stop position increases the tearing or marking if they are set forward.

If there is a step by step manual available to follow, we would love to see one as opposed to uninformed trial and error.

    Any help appreciated

your playing with fire if you dont know what your doing with swing arm grippers you could end up smashing it up or snaping the opening lever off.
there are three things that normally go on a swing arm 1st the swing arm shaft bearings go on the two outer ends causing the shaft to wear out. This is the most common problem you will need to order a new shaft and bearings for this job and strip the swing arm completly down 2nd the camfollwer go's on the end this means you just replace it and 3rd the swing arm gripper sieze up due to ink build up. To be honest its not a hard job to do I have done one in and out in a couple of hours

Right, That was why I was looking for some help from someone who knows the proper procedure. We do have some fairly capable people here and have performed some intricate repairs to our 40" six colour (SM102), but we had documentation.

Hoping someone can help us out a bit. I have been setting the individual swing grippers, but I think there must be a slight timing issue, as different gripper settings result in a variation between no gripper marks, moderate marks, and tearing the grip edge with 1/8 to 1/4" tears. Registration seems to go out when set with not gripper marks. I assume the marks/tears are a result of a timing issue between the swing and cylinder grippers, but as noted above, I am going on assumption, rather than knowing exactly how the system is supposed to be set up. I guess there could be a worn part, but was hoping to at least attempt to get the grippers properly set before delving much deeper.

There is an ecentric stud located under the feeder on the drive side its a 17mm with a 2.5mm grub screw in it. its for the opening of the swing arm check thats not come loose first
