Have a problem with the EAK power supply connection on a 2001 SM102. The supply board doesn't seem to be the problem since the issue doesn't move with the board after moving it to another position. Is there a typical problem with with this circuit.

    Hi,
What's the problem? Is there any faults showing on CP2000?

Yes, all 11 EAK boards are showing up and the press won't move, the LED on the power supply board for the EAK positions is not lit. I moved the board to another position and the LED did light up. This all happened after installing a new encoder cable to the 4th unit. I tried the cable without running it through the power box and all was fine until it was installed as the original cable was. I'm not sure this has any bearing on the EAK issue unless something was bumped, moved or unplugged but the encoder cable routing doesn't seem to be near anything that involves these boards. Any ideas?

While you had the swing frame open, is it possible you dislodged a plug on the backplane?

As Junker explained, it could be one of the reasons. The connector is not fitted strongly to backplane board. Check it and then follow my instructions in below.
There should be a short circuit on 24VDC line. Most probably, dampening solution level sensors are the main reasons. Check and touch each sensor and connecting cables if they are warm, then you have to cut the wire and replace the defective sensor. The other reason could be Sheet Travel Monitor sensors between units. In some cases the cable is got damage and makes a short circuit. And last, check cables of Front and Side lay sensors both on Drive and Operating side.

Check them and come back to us for further instructions.

    Good luck,

This is what I originally thought, but can't find anything loose or unplugged. I'll keep looking.

You may have touched on something here. There was a water sensor error but it cleared although this seems to be a re-occurring problem from time to time.

How much experience do you have with service? Are you basically an operator or service engineer? I'm asking because want to move one step forward and deep into your machine.

I would say, I'm more of a operator than service engineer but have a good understanding and have been able to troubleshoot over the years fairly well up to this point. Any info is appreciated and will relay anything you can offer to the appropriate technician if it goes over my head. Another error showing is, plausible error and stop button actuated...

Can you send a photo of INIT and DYN tests? You have to pop up Data Transmission and Diagnostics at Service Menu.

Sure thing....I'm hoping the same errors still show. I just got off the phone with the plant and after not doing anything but re- tracing the route of the encoder cable the problem went away. The press is operational again, but the pressman told me that water sensor issues have been occurring off and on for some time now. Anyway, I'll send the INIT & DYN pics.

Good to hear, but it is strange. We should wait for the next stop.
