    1996 Heidelberg GTO 52-493 Press.
50 sheets can go through and the counter reads way too high.
Cover stock doesn't go up as much but still counts wrong.

Can't imagine why cover would make a difference, the problem is likely originating at the roller switch (typically Siemens) mounted under the feedboard. Could also be poor connections at the amphenol plug between units, or at the counter itself. Check the switch first...common issue. If the roller is loose on the axle, or the pivoting lever is loose, you'll get poor counts, could be high or low depending on the wear issues. Good Luck! Steve

Yes Steve is correct Limited B73 under the feed table wold cause the problem.
Even if you replace the limited switch for new and do not correctly set it up you can still have a counter problem. Make sure you fit are adjust it correctly
    Best Regards

You offer up very little usable information, but from your description, I would assume the roller switch under the feed board is faulty. Check the condition of the wheel and pivoting lever, if worn out, counter will not work and there will be issues with "paper on" and "impression on" timing.

Also, if this GTO has the "run, damp, paper on, impression lever on operator side, you may have to check the switch under the cover.
