I run a speedmaster xl105 and love it, but just got switched over to an 8 year old speedmaster CD 74 and having a weird issue with it.

I'll Make ready the job and get the scanner were it's all flat lined and right where I Need it, then start running. No matter witch way my ink is trending from my make ready after starting the job and running about 300 sheets all 4 colors will drop out 10-15 points. The guy i'm taking over for says it's normal and has been like that for years but I think something is wrong with it. It shouldn't be doing that period.

Anyone else have a problem like that?

When running the press, does the ink sweep on each unit go down by itself? All units at the exact time or each unit individually but all units are affected? Can you increase the sweep again and then they start to go down by themselves again?

Not sure if the sweep you are talking about it the same on our 74, you set the sweep to a % wich it's at 40 right now and it doesn't change from that unless you move it, never varies while running.

More than likely your dampeing characteristic curve is to high. The damps are speed compensated the faster you go the more water you get. Fairly straight forward to set just bring them down a little at a time till you find the sweet spot.

To find it go to malfunction screen then hit the wrench button then find the characteristic curve button open it and on the top left there will be a button for ink presetting open it and you will find the damp character curve. If it is on the Heidelberg factory default you will have make a copy of it because you cannot adjust the factory curves there is a button on bottom of screen to copy the factory curve rename it and adjust away. I can give you some screen shots if you need let me know.
