I recently purchased a used 1999 SM52 4 color with perfector. Unfortunately, There is an error indicating the perfector. I was assuming it could easily be fixed by manually turning the perfector to zero. I was able to do this once before when the press was allowing me to command perfect from the console but then it would inch a few millimeters and then freeze. I'm able to manually lock it into zero after commanding perfect, but then once I go back to console and command perfect once it's at zero the press doesn't finish executing command. Please help. I will pay with fine New Mexican brewed IPA... THANK YOU

There is a long list of possibilities when it comes to perfector related issues. When you say this was a recent purchase, installation of the machine also need to be put into question especially since its a 4 color and the perfector is likely between 2 and 3. This means some disassembly and reassembly needs to be done during the dismantle and reassembly. Not sure is this is the right venue for a solution.

Thank you. Yes, installation is in question. Everything was fine, feeding paper and no error codes, until I tried switching to perfect. Once I did this the press wasn't able to switch over. I think the hydraulics on the storage drum needs to be adjusted. Also, now the press thinks it's in perfect but it isn't. The press can still feed paper. Since the first time I tried to switch from straight print to perfect the perfecter never successfully switched over and the storage drum never did move. It would stop at approx 258 degrees during the switch over process and keep thinking but never do anything.

There is a long sequence of events that need to take place for the press to successfully complete a changeover. If any one of these events dont complete successfully the press will stop with an error. Its the last successful event that needs to be known. Could be hydraulic, pneumatic or electronic and almost impossible to troubleshoot on an internet forum. My advice is to find someone that knows what they are doing and have them take a look. Wrong advice could be very expensive when it comes to perfectors.

    few questions

was it working before de install
    who installed it
and why didn't they test it during commissioning
what type of pressure intensifier does it have?
is it mounted up under the machine or is it sitting on the floor
