Thanks for the video, Sorm. The KORD is an absolutely gorgeous machine and I hope to have one some day. Actually two--one to run in my shop and one to serve as a fully funtioning piece of 2.5 ton art in my living room. If my fiance will allow such a thing. The KORD is one of those rare and wonderful machines like the Ducati 996, whose form and functionality make it a work of art.

Hello to everyone here. I just found this forum a couple of days ago and this is my first post here. I am retired from the printing industry but I've run most of the small duplicators to the big Heidelberg SORSZ, SORKZ and SORDZ. But my favorite press by far is the KOR-series. It's the press I have most experience on (9 years total) and most of that time I spent on a KORS which is the 28" press - but essentially it's the same as the KORD. My favorite feature of the KOR-series is the way each sheet is curved onto the feedboard at the moment of registration, which stiffens the sheet. Brilliant! I realize that it's a carryover from the old Heidelberg letterpress machines.

I live in northern Arizona and I wish I knew how to find out where the Heidelberg installations are. I would love to run a KORD part-time just for the fun of it. There just aren't very many Heidelberg machines up here.

I ran both Kords and SBDs but the feedboard on the SBD was straight if I remember rightly

Yes the KORDs were largely based on the letterpress versions because at the time, it was at the changeover for a lot of firms from Letterpress to Offset Litho and Heidelberg believed it would aid in the training, that is they wouldn't have to learn a stream feeder as well as the different process

I liked the KORDs printing wise but the delivery was a nightmare due to the arse backwards delivery

The times I smashed the delivery up due to the crash fingers not working

Hmm, now that I think about it, I think you are right about the SBD having a straight feedboard. I had forgotten because it's been so many years since I've even seen an SBD letterpress. We used to have two of them on the floor of my college, where I learned the printing business. The SBD's were used to print our college newspaper, which was a weekly publication.

I know what you mean by "arse-backwards" delivery. It was always a very athletic feat to make my fine adjustments with the ink keys on one end of the press, and then run around to the OTHER end of the press to pull a sheet to see the results. The saving grace is that the KOR-series tends to be a very stable, easily-controlled press.

    Glad I found this forum.

you should see the KOR running in our shop. it's older than most the guys working there. banged. bruised. annoyingly loud and it seems like a little piece of it falls off every impression.

but the lovely thing about it is that we still use it for some 4 color press work and registration is still on the dot (if the operator is careful! hahahaha).

    Training to keep business going.

In the Philippines, most offset operators including non-offset, post and pre press, were not formally trained.

Filipinos (people from the Philippines) are fast learners. They can easily adapt to many things. They are hard workers and can develop passion of learning in the field that they are involved.

Most of them started being helpers. Some helpers were high school undergraduates and end up to be the supervisors, managers and even become owners of the same trade.

Surely, without the formal training or education the knowledge is incomplete. There are Safety concerns, they must know. The Do's and Dont's - and many more, i supposed.

A very few schools/universities offer printing education w/ graphic arts.

A school printing that I know do not accept anyone over 24 years old.

I am in my 40's now. My family owns 2 KORD machines... and I wanted to operate these machines JUST in case our operators failed to show up (for some emergency reasons) and when things are in a RUSH.

It is very important that I need to know the safety rules of operating these machines. I need important manuals and operational tips associated with KORD.

I will pass this knowledge to the willing members of my family to keep the business going - for their future.

Thank you for your time reading my message.

    God Bless!

It is a shame you didn't keep an eye on the posts following your request for a manual, i had a friend going out to the Philipines a couple of days after your request and he could have taken the book with him.

    Hi
I'm glad that I've found this forum. I would be very thankfull if you would like to send me or email me the manual books or the service books for KORS 52x72. It had and accident last year and it stops running.
I need to fix it because there's hardly people familiar with this machine nowadays.

    Thank you
