KASEMAKE carton box packaging printing design software program

A)Interface and designing
KASEMAKE Design Software uses the standard Windows environment, making learning the system very simple for anyone from the novice to experienced designers.
The design environment can be customised by any user. Tool bars can be configured to help the designer process projects more efficiently. Short cuts can be assigned to any given command also speeding the idea to screen process. Right mouse button context menus can be customised for specific tools, allowing certain commands that are in regular use quick and simple access. With this fully customisable environment, KASEMAKE helps to streamline the workflow giving the designer more creative time.
Creation of designs is performed using any number of freehand and geometric drawing tools. These combined with powerful editing tools, allow the designer limitless flexibility.
Import and export facilities allow KASEMAKE to interact with other systems.
B)Style libraries
There are several libraries of standard designs included in the KASEMAKE software. These are designs globally accepted within the packaging industry e.g. FEFCO for corrugated and ECMA for carton board. Other style libraries include Point Of Sale, folders and envelopes.
Using a simple interface, internal sizes are entered along with the material profile. The parametric system then automatically generates a drawing, including specific tolerances for the style and material. This not only saves the designers time, but eliminates errors on common designs.
Each new version of KASEMAKE software includes more standards. Designers can create their own parametrics for specific customers and begin to generate a custom library. Once created any person within the company can produce a drawing using these standards.
C) 3D modelling
The 3D function of KASEMAKE allows the designer to fold the design on screen for the following purposes
• Structural Assessment – Checking that the design makes up correctly, and that all panels align and fit without needing to make a physical sample.
• Artwork Check – By importing artwork onto the design and then folding the structure, it is possible to check that the artwork has been generated correctly, and that images appear on the appropriate panels with correct orientation.
• Sales Presentation - High resolution 3D stills can be created to give the customer an understanding of how the package will look. Animations can be recorded to see the design folding. Output formats include JPEG and AVI so any customer can view them without the need for specialist software.
During the folding process, a designer can take a series of ‘snap-shots’. These stills can then be combined and annotated to easily produce assembly diagrams.

An even more realistice appearance can be achieved with the use of a 3D environment. Create a virtual store or simply use a background image from a digital camera.
D) Multiple layouts
Once designs have been approved it is imperative that the product is manufactured efficiently. Best use of material is always a priority, this can be automatically calculated using KASEMAKE’s intelligent layout function.
The intelligent layout function can either calculate best fit to a known sheet or machine size, or as a specific number in horizontal and vertical (e.g. 3x2). Gutter between designs and trim around the sheet are taken into account. KASEMAKE calculates a number of possible layouts for the designer to choose from.
These layouts can be used for producing multiple samples on the cutting tables, exporting key lines for graphics applications, or sending to the die maker to produce the cutting forme. With the multiple layout function the designer has more control over the planned route through the factory, which reduces the cost of tool design from the die maker
E) Database
Included with the software is a Database. This is used to keep a record of all jobs created by the design team. Kept on a central server all designers have access to the entire repository.
A powerful search facility incorporated in the database allows a user to search any field for a specific term, or use multiple criteria for more complex searches. For example, all jobs done for a specific customer in the last quarter. This automatically filters the information stored within the database, for printing statistical management reports or to find drawings.
Specification sheets for professional A4 printouts are easily designed using KASEMAKE software. Text within the specification sheet can be automatically filled in from the database. Similarly critical information from the drawing such as overall size, rule length, and so on, can be acquired automatically by the database.
F) Die making
Within the KASEMAKE package there is the facility to create die-ready technical drawings. These tools enable the user to create
• Die boards with stripping knives for flat or rotary die machines
• Male, Female and Front Edge Stripping Tools
• Counter Dies for production on Routers.
Additionally, the software can automatically generate the bridging needed, and export direct to automatic rule benders.
Using the integrated die costing in KASEMAKE, the user is able to quote accurate tooling costs calculated by the rule length, wood and any other additional factors related to the finished forme.
G)Workflow management
Communications between the sales and design needs to be as efficient as possible. KASEMAKE has several optional software packages that run in conjunction with the main system to automate this process.
This software allows ‘non-designers’ access to the extensive parametric libraries, as well as the design database. The user can run any standard styles for estimating, or create job specification sheets, freeing up valuable creative time for the designers.
Using a site licence enables anyone, from production operatives to administration staff to view drawings and specifications, check dimensions or print job cards. This view only system will not allow design detail to be edited, and is a valuable means of sharing the information generated by the design department.

• Remote Iterface (RI) - Provides access to KASEMAKE remotely, and will link to most MIS, automatically generating drawings from a job enquiry. Using the standard libraries, the RI system reports back information such as scoring and blank sizes to the MIS for further processing.
• File Interface (FI) – Provides scheduling and Enquiry capturing for the design department. The Administrator assigns incoming projects either manually or automatically to a specific designer. Non KASEMAKE users can also have access to monitor the ‘real-time’ schedule.
KASEWEB - KASEWEB offers a secure, web-based project sharing facility, 2D drawings, High-resolution images, 3D animations, and many other formats can be added to a design proposal. KASEWEB is easily managed by designers to provide an ‘on-line’ approval system.

The secure access to the KASEWEB system can be used as a repository for historical projects, and as a sales portfolio, showing prospective customers your latest concepts and designs.
