    Hi,

I once bought used a Ikon rip - an older HP - and since I had the dongle and its serial EFI sent me a new CD.

So I think genuine requests with evidence of prior purchase or valid license, will get a fair hearing on lost software.

    :)

Sorry no. But most of these big companies are not unaproachable, it is just a matter of getting to the right people. I bought from Ebay with dongle and machines hard drive was not reading, I googled EFI and emailed the Efi Australian sales manager. A couple of emails later to verify the dongle number and the CD was in the mail. It seems EFI Australai doesn't exist now. Though they have agents otherwise. There is not much point trying to rip them off anyway as they prevent software being upgraded for various the new hardware and for any errors they find in their program. Also if the software is not legit then the entire rip is not saleable. Given a fair claim on software and that it was for their own hardware from a prior genuine sale, even if dongle was missing, Given my experience with them I think they would negotiate for discounted replacement SW. Probably best to phone and get to speak with a sales rep and get him to put your case. The serial number of the machine and model etc, perhaps legit history details, etc, all might help.
If you can boot machine with old drive as slave and get some info from previous install it could all help make the deal work. :)
