Correct, even if you varnish a gloss stock, you will notice a decent amount of difference in the appearance, and one of the greatest benefits of the varnish is that it reduces scratching you get with unvarnished printing. But varnish just can't touch the quality and appearance of UV.

Is a water based coat the same as an AQ coating?

Anyone know any suppliers in Toronto canada that I can see some samples of different finishes?

Yes water based and AQ is the same. They use the term AQ which is short for aqua which is water...

I wander if the problem with the stripe that Ron Roger had is solved.
We have the same problem with our DI machine at magenta and we tried the following without solving the problem:
    1.adjusting the rollers
    2.remove the third roller completly
3.print with different type of inks - small improovment

I don't know if we have to adjust the cooling water circuit
Is it possible to make it better?

Yes I do work for Heidelberg. Technically I no longer work in a role that relates to the QMDI, but in the past I was in the 2nd level support department for the QMDI having worked in the field on it for 8 years.

Any major ink supplier should be able to get it for you.

    Ok here is my issue..
I am trying to set my rollers according to the manual and Paul Cavanaugh's instructions. nothing too complicated... is it? Well, I managed to set all the rollers more all less without too much effort but somehow I don't seem to get the the 1st form roller (yellow) to touch on the plate on the black, cyan and magenta units? But no problems on the Yellow unit.. the size of the 3 1st form rollers on each unit are almost the same: 54.14mm (quite ok considering they have to be 54.7mm). SO I spent the whole day trying to figure out what is happening, no success, especialy that at the start of the day I had all the rollers showing on the plate! now, they are gone?? I tried extreme settings whereby I screw in the orange screw all the way in and all the way out but no success, even worse the other two rollers 2&3 move in and out too.
    Any one?
