Hello, I'm new to the forum and did search for this information.

I have a QMDI 46 4 and the Yellow Plate cleaner is not advancing. With the unit out of the press I can trip the catch and advance by hand. Has anyone had this trouble before that can give me a heads up.

    Thanks
    Mike

I'd guess that the pneumatic actuator on the OS on the inner side frame is jammed up with spray powder so it cant trip the catch. Mine is beginning to do the same. Im getting far more cleanings per roll than I used to and the cloth tends to wad up after awhile.
I haven't taken it out though to fix it.

You should look to make sure that the shaft which actuates the advancing of the cloth is not moving out of the press. There is a snap ring which holds it in place, if you slide the plate washer in hard you can knock the snap ring off the shaft. When it goes to wind the material it just keeps jumping over the pin it is supposed to grab to wind the material.

The best way to see if that is the problem is to grab the lever on the outside of the side frame and try to pull it out towards you, if it moves out at all you will know the snap ring has come loose.

    Thanks

Will look into both ideas today, tired of cleaning plates by hand.

    Thank you yet again Paul,

I happened to be reading this thread and we've been washing our plates by hand for a year and a half.

I took a look at the lever attached to pneumatic cylinder Y41 & Y40 and when we pulled on it it moved out from the press about 1/2 an inch without any force. These are the two heads we have never been able to clean with without scratching, all this pain for the sake of a snap ring :S

    Thanks again
    Andy
