    banding

i have a problem with banding on the magneta unit. the banding is at the grip end and only 10mm inside my cut area. I have tried decreasing the impression and lowering the temp on the technotrans. Also lessing the ink.
The job does not have alot of ink coverage at all.
    any idea's anyone/

We've struggled from banding in the past and I believe this happened for several different reasons.

1.) Too much pressure between ink form rollers & plate.

2.) Room temperature to hot. during summer months are press room was becoming to hot, so we piped cold air from an air conditioning unit into the press so the cool air was settling on the press. We found this to be extremely successful.

3.) The gears on the end of our oscillating rollers on our magenta head had became worn as well as the teeth on the large gearwheel, we replaced the gears and gearwheel which significantly seemed to help banding problems. (We knew our gears where worn as the teeth were worn to a point. I believe this happened because the needle bearing behind the gearwheel had collapsed.)

Although we didn't struggle from all these problems at the same time these all seemed to cause the same type of issue
Hope one of those points helps

Check double check second form roller stripe to the plate. I had it to a while ago with long runs. I tought my roller stripes where ok as I adjusted them as I ever did (shoot them to the plate, wait 15 sec. release rollers and measure). After changing procedure ( shoot to the plate INCH the press wait 15 sec. and release rollers) I saw that form roller 1 and 3 where the same as in first procedure but the second one was to light.

Tip from flip, I clean the plate before shooting rollers to them with a piece of cloth wettened a bit with blanket wash so my stripe on the plate becomes much more visible on non imaged parts on the plate.

Thanks Andy, room temp is airconditioned but does warm up in the arvo, this may be a part of it. but i found that my ink strips were way too big.

    cheers
