I have never seen a riso up close so I don't know much about them. I print ballots for our county, on 8.5 x 17, 90 index preprinted with registration tick marks. I spend too much time getting them where they need to be on my Ryobi 3200 so therfore I'm wondering if a riso would do the job. If so what model would you recommend? Is there anyone out there doing that? I can lease from a company here and I'm sure they can get whatever I want. Thanks for your input.

Hi, just wanted to throw my 10 cents... Let me ask you - do you know how Riso works? I rolls the Sort-of Wax paper master on the cylinder and burns the image with thermal head. So yes makeready for RISO is much easier than your Ryobi but than in nex 50 or so pages, image shifts while that master settles on the drum - the will be some image drift, also it has a paper registration and paper path just as most of the copiers do +/- 1mm or less in any direction is normal unlike grippers in your press. In my opinion - it would be really tricky to imprint a set of letters in to the boxes, lets say as the master will stretch somewhat trough out the run as well. If you need, for example, just print the line in the bottom of the doc - should be OK otherwise, I would not be so sure, please do no believe all what a salesman will tell you. Also they try to sell this things at $15K or near - don't go for it, once you sign that lease, there is no way out. A duplicator has about 2 mil prints life span and very little service, get a nice low copy count machine and use it if you decide to go for it anyway. I am to far to be local seller but we have RISO RZ590 with 125K on the meter which is really nothing, $1750 buys it.
