Have a Challenge Titan 230 paper cutter. The back guage "jumps ahead slightly". Any one with this model have this problem? Some of the dealers are telling us Challenge has been cutting corners to remain profitable. Baum now has a 22" cutter in this class. If it had been available in 2008 I probably would have bought the Baum.
What exactly do you mean it "jumps ahead slightly"? Im a challenge dealer/ tech and will back up any challenge product!feel free to contact me if you need some support! Mike Cabrera 305.718.9888 mike@larryandassociates.com
Cutting accurracy is fine. Cutter works well enough. There hasn't been any repairs required since I bought it new in 2008. From the outset though, I've always suspected the machine is "under powered". Likes to shingle the stock. There is a bolt missing inside the machine (clamp mechanism) that I detected a few years ago. Challenge told me "don't worry about it". I find the blade action under power is somewhat "clunky". Not smooth like the Baum Cut. I would rate the Titan 230 "adequate" and a bit of a disappointment. I doubt Challenge would do anything about the backguage "jump ahead" syndrome so I put up with it.
you would be amazed what challenge will do for there consumers.. Well let me know im here to help in any way! Also you might want to check with your local dealer and ask them to check the knife down pressure.. it may be set to low and causing your stock shingling...
