Help, We have a Polar 90CE serial Nr.412281 that is experiencing problems as it was cycling sometimes, now it has stopped. We were told to that the #8A and #9 Board was bad so we purchased these which wasn't cheap and after putting them in it is still not functioning. A technician is saying it could be the solenoid by the hydraulic pump but our tech is saying that the power source to this is from the same #8 or #9 board so we are back where we started. Please advise.

    Hi,
Your problem seems bit complicated. It's very hard to diagnose such problem through a forum like this. But let's give it a try.

First, you check the little indicator lamp in the right side unit of the light barrier is functional. It should light up when no obstacle in between the two light barrier units. If it's not lighting, then we have series of checks to do. If it's lighting, then you press the one of the two cut buttons. Then it shouldn't make the 3 lamps in the left unit to go out. If that's OK, then carefully check this,

When you press the two cut buttons simultaneously, the indicator lamp on the left unit of the light barrier should blink briefly. And then only the clamp and blade should come down.

Let me know whether or not the lamp blinks. And also whether the clamp comes down even if the blade is not moving.

    Hope this helps

Indicator light (5/8" diameter Orange light) on the right side is OFF, when one cut button is pressed the three light on the left goes out while three remains on. When I press two cut buttons simultaneously no brief blinking just 3 light goes out with no movements of either Clamp nor Blade. Thanks for taking time to assist.

    Hi,
There you go. Seems you have a problem in the light barrier. First you have to check the adjustments of the 6 lamps. The light beams of the each lamp of the left side unit should be pointed towards the corresponding lens of the right side unit. The orange lamp go out even one beam is out, so please adjust using the 3 nuts on each lamp in the left side unit. If you do it right, the orange indicator lamp should come on. (First of all, make sure the orange lamp is not burnt)

Do the adjustment and let me know.

Good morning Sir, success. thanks so much for your guidance.
The orange light wasn't working so I took a VOM and checked the bulb and noticed an open circuit so I took the orange one from the CE control from the front of the cutter and after putting that as a replacement the cutter is working.
I also noted that the #8a board was indeed a problem as since its working I put in the old boards and checked if it would work. So a combination of the #8 board and the orange light was faulty. Once again "Thank You' for your assistance from the other side of the world as Belize is in Central America. Technology has really made communication so easy to share your experience to assist the less fortunate..smile....Thanks sir. have a great day.

    Hi,
Happy to hear that your machine is working. The problem was not with the orange lamp. It's just an indicator to check the light beams alignment. The 8 card has 2 or 3 flatpak relays (depending on the card model you have). One of those might be the culprits. If you're going to repair it, start with replacing the relays.

    Cheers
