Hi everyone, thank you for any help in advance! For the last month or so our second used 76EM machine we brought in has intermittently been throwing code 88. It's been very hard to troubleshoot as it is so inconsistent and I don't have any service manuals. Until now it has only been a minor problem, happening maybe once or twice a day and sometimes not for days at a time. Now it's happening a dozen or more times a day. It happens usually after making a cut, the machine goes to next program step normally, the operator is removing the cut product and within a few seconds goes to error mode. Sometimes the weight bar is in the down position still and gets stuck once the machine errors out. We have to wait 2-3 minutes after shutting off else it will still be stuck when turning power back on. I'm not sure if because the machine is in error mode it is preventing any operations from happening and that's why it won't move back up? In the last few days sometimes just after starting it up, zeroing out the back gauge and waiting 10-20 seconds it will go into error all on its own without ever dropping the blade. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi!

The error message 88 is about the safety bolt. Within a time limit the safety bolt has to slide in and out of the machine main frame. If the bolt slides to slaw the software is not sure the locking function is fast and safe enough.

Above the gearbox is a metal cover. If you take this cover of you see a horizontal working coil with two proximity switches. This whole unit is mounted with four metric Allan key screws (Allan key 5mm) into the main frame. Switch the machine off and take the four screws out. Now you are able to pull the whole unit together with the coil, the safety bolt, etc. out of the frame. You clean the whole inside the main frame and the bolt. If you like to grease you have to use lubrication witch does not become sticky. Maybe a thin layer of DW40 or equivalent will help. Now you assemble the whole unit. Do not forget the spacer at the frame. This big square washer looks a bit strange, but the cutout is necessary against vacuum. Get the four screws tight and check the machine function.

    Good luck

Thanks for your advice, I have taken out the safety bolt and cleaned lubed it. All is good so far, I'll let you know how it operates throughout the day. Hopefully that fixes it! Thanks

Hello good evening, I recently got error 88 on my polar 76M. Can you send me some pictures of the security screw and where is it located? Thanks
