    Dear All,
Whenever we operate our polar Mohr 92-E Ser. num 6811316, on Automatic,we always get error 79 on the display. We observe that the backguage motor always move to a position different from the value entered on screen by some mm.
What can we do to make these two values correspondingly the same and hence eliminate error to operate cutter on automatic.
We will appreciate a prompt response.

    Hi wunmi-50

    Error No. : 79
Error message : position not achieved

    cause:

This error message is indicated after a positioning process, if it is detected that the difference between the required norminal position and he actually achieved position and the achieved position of the backgauge exceeds the accuracy allowance adjusted {default value = 0.008 cm}.

    Remedy:

In that case the driver data of the machine (brake afterrun and slow-down travel) should be caculated again and revised via function "SCAN REFERENCE POINT" .If these data are within the permissible range and the malfunction occurs all the same it is necessary to inspect the drive system completely.
    -Check setting of frequency converter
-Check setting of backgauge motor brake
    -Adjust or replace SAP board

I will start from the easy way that is grease the backgauge and rescan the reference point(while backgauge moving turn off the machine immediately then start again from scan reference point) then check the gap of the backgauge motor brake.Hope this can help you out there.

    Hi wunmi-50

Please take a look at this diagram [IMG] for motor brake gap. Listen, I can't convert you to a polar guy for such few words; if you are a new bie at Polar please don't take risk to do anything but find a right guy who did polar service in your area.
