For my next laptop I'm thinking of a macbook pro with 15" retina display.

The macbooks are built better than any others and the apple support good if anything breaks. Playing with an ipad and marveling at how durable and lightweight it is and how good the battery is makes me think more and more of a macbook pro.

Yeah Xfactor, for $1800 a pop... They better be exactly what you said.
For those who does not plan to shell out nearly $2k for a laptop.... I did have a good experience with dells, we usually buy something withing $900 to a 1000, trying to find some deals/coupons on Slickdeals.net or ableshoppers.com
Last time we bought a Sony, not bad but I think I will go back to dell for a next one.

You might look at some of the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 tablets if that size screen is sufficient.
Microsoft is trying to get market share right now with the surface tablets and some of the deals are really good for the tablet/laptop hardware you get.

I've always had Mac laptops, they last a very long time, so yes your shelling out some bucks but you don't have to do it as often, my last one was still okay, its over 8 years old. I've got a MacBook Pro... great machine, I'd recommend to anyone.
