    Hello,

Currently I am using a Lexmark C543DN color laser printer.

I am wondering if laser printers use toner when turned on and when turned off please?

I know some inkjet printers do but have no idea about the issue when it comes to laser printers.

A reason I am asking is that I prefer to keep my laser printer turned off when not in use because of possible micro particle release health related issues.

    Thanks for your help.

    hi

i know this is some time later, but thought i would answer any way, as for laser printers, no, all they do is to warm up the corona wire and fuzer unit, hence why you normally get more prints with laser printing than you would with ink.

some laser printers would draw a set of patches of each color on the image belt for references but it is really insignificant, there is no need to warm up corona wires - once high voltage hits a hair-thin gold/platinum plated wire, it glows blue immediately , no need to warm up, just a fuser. There are no particles release when printer in sleep mode but if you don't use it for days - sure shut it down. there Should be no particles release even while your printer operates unless it is mechanically unwell. Toner should go on to paper, what did not transfer on paper should go in to waist collecting container, any ozone from the fuser should be neutralized by special filter.

Some printers with soft roll fusers print better if they are left on; sometimes turning them off for long periods (a week or more) will cause the fuser soft rollers to get hard spots or dents that impact printing.
