hello, we recently bought a used HP color laserjet 5500 for printing small runs of a magazine. we got it with remanufactured toners and bought the same when they were empty. recently the printer started printing strange colors. all pictures had a massive magenta tint and didn't look at all like they should. what could be a reason for that? I attached two photos, one is the original, the other one the printed result. thanks for any help! christoph
Does the magenta toner flood over non-image areas of the page too? I've had something like this happen either with really old drums or one time when the wrong toner cartridge was added to either an oki or small hp (I can't remember which one it was); that machine had separate toner and drums and when the problem occurred it turned out a non-oem toner that had been purchased was the wrong one and contaminated the separate drum in that machine.
hey jeff, thanks for you answer! no it's just the image itself that is magenta. the quality of the print as such is good. no toner where it shouldn't be. today I printed a configuration page from the printers menu and it turns out that the colors are ok there. so it must have something to do with the driver, I reckon..
