We've been using the C1 for a while now and it's working really fine. But lately we've been getting white "stretch marks" on solid full color prints. See below...

The first time we had this problem, we contacted the Canon Service center and they came over. The guy from Canon pointed out a switch behind the machine that adds additional heat to the drum to avoid prints like that. He also said that the paper could be moist.

The thing is, we already made sure that the paper is dry by wiping it off with a super absorbent rag; and the heat switch at the back was already turned on. We don't understand how this kind of thing still happens. Has anyone encountered similar problems?

The last rub image looks like bad fusing to my eye -- what is the paper you are running?

If you print the same print on 28# copy paper, does it do the same exact thing or is it fine? (don't mean to post a stupid answer here, but want to make sure you've already tried this...)

If the paper has sucked in humidity from being open in a humid environment, I don't think this will dry it out really.

The prints are like that regardless of paper (matte or coated), but it works just fine on plain paper (book paper). and about humidity... hmm. our papers just sit around in our printing area, how do i know if they suck in humidity?

We had similar problem and it turned out to be the paper. We let our paper sit in the office (air conditioned) overnight and problem went away. Our technician suggested putting a few sheets in the microwave (not kidding) to dry it out completely, then try printing again.

    Solution.

    Hi everyone,

Sorry if we can't update regularly. We solved the problem and it's not the paper.
The technician said it might be the paper but we bought a new stock and prints still came out the same. so we concluded that the problem must be with the unit.

Upon further investigation, it turns out one of the fixing belts (we think that's what they call it) - the belt that affixes the toner on the paper..kind of bakes it in so it doesn't smudge when it comes out.. is not leveled. The solution was to replace it even if it still hasn't reached its durability threshold.

The prints came out solid again after replacement and some color adjusting by the technician.

We're not saying, that the belt is always the problem, just that it was on our case. Paper stock and humidity is also a factor.

In every issues that we encounter don't forget to call Canon in your area first before referring to others....we might end up sharing our whole stories using same machine. It's best to ask them, they know the technology and they have improved for years of training for this kind of technology (imagine...equipped with a spectro and CMS learnings).

Even other users and experts knows the limitations of the digital machines from wayback 2005 (from papers, applications, and even RIP's), but they are still on the business and asking for more. We have to be vigilant and updated when it comes to technology, it pays to be techie.

    Let's keep on sharing!!!
