I have and ImagePress 6010. I have seen this happen with type and text before. But not quite as bad as the 6010. I love this machine, and this minor issue continue to bother me.

Mostly on grey type (lighter than 75% black) you will notice that the toner seems to be applied heavily at the types edge. This creates a beveled/3d look to the type.
Is there a Fiery setting im not aware of that could correct or reduce this issue?

I haven't a photo at the moment, I think many people have seen this issue (or so im hoping)

A shot in the dark, but does it make any difference if you turn off the fiery option for auto-trapping?

Never tried that actually. I have all my media pre-sets saved with it 'on'.
I'll let you know shortly. Dont see how it would help, but it cant hurt.

Seems about the same. I can almost trick myself into thinking its better.
Under the loupe it looks the same. Maybe i need to get and image on here of what it looks like.
I have been trying to mess around with the halftone settings on the Fiery, but to be honest, i dont see much difference either..
