We printed on 13 x 19 80 classic linen cover last week and it looks great. Today we try to run another job and the same stock and it looks like crap. Any thoughts?

well all I can think of is the media setting being wrong. this machine doesn't have automatic media detection, it believes whats registered by the operator, you can put 200 gsm card in the deck and tell the machine its 80 gsm, the machine will simply print the sheet out and the output will sure look like crap!

What controller are you running? If you are using Fiery, PLEASE make sure your operators are leaving the DPI setting on 600dpi. Do not change it to 1200dpi. This is a big no no if you are having color problems and mottled or graininess. Also are they calibrating correctly? Calibration is a 4 step process on the imagepress, if they are skipping any one of those steps quality could be inconsistent. I have found by following these simple steps you can eliminate a lot of inconsistencies with the imagepress and it will perform extremely well.

Increase the secondary transfer voltage. You need to set up a custom paper in the Paper Type Management on the Canon, then edit the settings to increase the STV. Works great for getting the toner to stick in the recessed parts of the linen paper.

Humidity is a huge factor. If the room humidity is lower than when you first ran it, that can adversely effect the image.
