We are looking at a replacement copier for our iR3220 + C1 fiery. I demo'd the 3245 w/o a RIP vs the C4580 with a rip, and am not sure what the difference is.

This is for a professional office where color isn't critical. 95% of what we do is normal office documentation. The other 5% is short runs of brochures and our annual report.

The only difference is a slight change in hue between the two machines (uncalibrated 3245?). The 3245 actually finished printing out 35 page annual report in the exact same time the 4580 did, as the 4580's RIP seemed to sit and process for a good minute or two while the 3245 was printing before the job had finished spooling.

the irc4580 doesn't come with the rip as standard - the clc4040 does
also the 3245 is a black & white machine

if it is for office color i would'nt bother with a rip - however as you already have a rip check and see if your using any 'rip' only features...(like profiles)
