Default Curious about clicks for 11 x 17

We tested a xerox & a canon before we decided our current contract. The xerox to me printed a higher quality photo but Rip was not included in price & Here is the big seller. We had a CLC (Lemon) from day 1. tech in and out Lost job after job. We thought we were finished with Canon But then. The comparable Xerox & the 3220 tested. They threw in the Fiery C1 (rip) & for our service we get 1 click on 11 x 17. Hello 2 up.

Our Color Setup Tech said the company our service contract is with always give 1 click for 11 x 17 to printers & told us to make sure we got that. Our service contract has been bought out by Konica so I'm not sure what will happen when we are ready to trade UP.

Anyone else want to chime in on their clicks?????

I was told Xerox started with the one-click for any size print click charges on their machines and then those providing canon machines did the same in response to remain competitive.

It's somewhat nice in that it helps favor print shops who tend to print the larger sizes over offices who might print more smaller. I think this is probably fair in that print shops while more demanding of quality have a hard business and are likely more responsive to the machines to get more from them and help techs keep them running well. At the same time, there's a certain uncomfortable feeling in that if you get a bad service provider I fear you could negotiate yourself into too good a deal where they want to see durable yeilds more in line with the smaller size even though there was the initial understanding of one click per sheet large or small. Hoepfully you get a good service provider.

We still have the same 2 techs but the company switched from Danka to Konika Minolta - - We can order toners directly from online ordering but Have to call a tech for Drums. I know they became cautious of high quantity requests as they caught someone here in the SE USA selling drums on Ebay. Our techs are pretty good when we call & if we just need a drum, they usually will mail (1) -- However we did have a problem where we needed on site service & it took much longer than usual when they first switched hands. We did have a job but luckily the customer was someone we knew & we were allowed to run just a (2) color job on the press. That has been the only case so far in the past (2) two years.

They are wanting us to demo a new Konica machine that is suppose to be great & are wanting to help us out of the lease But we will see. It also actually has a much cheaper Color per Copy Price. We shall see. I am hoping for anything that will run some grays like a mononchrome laser along with the color.
