    Hello,

I have a Canon C5185 with the Y2 finisher and when I print on anything other than 20lb paper I have some pretty significant paper curl. I've tried to change the paper type, but it does not seem to help. The curl happens no matter what tray I use (1-4 or the bypass), and it also doesn't matter which output tray I select. I've messed around with the paper types in the settings to see if something will help, but nothing seems to work.

Is there a setting that I am overlooking which can be adjusted to help reduce paper curl? This happens on basically anything but 20lb paper.

    Thanks in advance,

    Morgan

For reference, I've included two photos of a flyer I printed on 32lb paper. I've read that sometimes the paper needs to be put in the printer with one side up to reduce curl, I've tried both ways with nearly identical results.

Looks as if the paper is loosing moisture content, the most common cause of paper curl on toner based copiers/printers...this is caused by the heat from the fuser "zapping" the moisture out of it...try using a lower heat setting on the fuser (usually controlled by selecting different paper type) and also by controlling the humidity in the room to around 10-20%...another possibility is uneven or too much fuser roller pressure...if paper is heated to much IT WILL curl...On offset presses to much water can cause a similar but opposite effect but that is another topic entirely...

also this is why some of the digital production printers/presses have add on options for controlling curl and humidity as well as dual fusers...
