1200dpi 51 ppm canon IRC5180 color imagerunner! I see canon has just unveiled the 5180 51 page per minute color imagerunner at 1200 dpi (!) featuring belt fuser technology for fast starts (wonder what this will do for finish quality and fixing assembly cost over the long run?) and the brochure says simply "Durable Canon OPC Drum" -- Anyone know how the 5180's drum technology differs from previous models?
The things I would really love to see impoved over the IRC 2620/IRC 3200/IRC 3220 would be: - stronger black over the life of the drum (they get a bit weak about half way through their 40,000 service life)
- ability to print on some gloss stocks with nice looking results
- no jitter issues to cause difficult to troubleshoot maintenance issues
The speed and resolution in such a small sized machine are certainly impressive to say the least; if they improve on the IR3220 which was already ahead of its time it should be the leader of the pack once again.
Anyone have hands on experience running some quantity on the color imagerunner 5180 yet? |
