What machines would I need to start producing short run hardcover books, say 100 at a time?

There is a manual machine for this job. Go to www.fastbind.com or www.maping.com (it is the same company). There you can see the coverself machines. Excellent quality for print shops.

Thanks stratis -- these look quite unique! A lot of labor, but plenty doable. I have to look into what the cost of materials is buying the easy fastbind supplies to see if it's economically feasible -- the machines themselves look like a great way for me to get started. (the only other machines I've seen even close are the bourg perfect binding softcover, not hardcover, machines and those look very large and expensive in comparison.)
