Need info on hinge scores for book covers.

    Hey, thanks in advance for any help.

    We currently use a fast bind 5 for our perfect binding. I'm wondering if the hinge I see on a lot of books is achieved by simply scoring the covers 1/4 inch out from the spine and applying a little extra glue. Or do you have to have something that adds glue to the front and back of the book block? Any thoughts or info on those hinges would be appreciated.

    Side Gluing for Perfect Binding

    To achieve side gluing, you need a perfect binder that side glues. This has nothing to do with a hinge score, which you can choose to do or not to do. A nice economical perfect binder that side glues is The Sterling Digibinder. You can see more information and a video here:
