I've recently acquired an old National Booksewing Machine, and I was hoping that somebody out there has some experience running these machines. Specifically, I'm wondering if there is a way to adjust how tightly the signatures are sewn together. Currently, my sigs are sewn fairly loose, with a lot of air space in between.

Did you solve this problem. I have a Smythe #12 that maybe similar to yours. Have not gotten it running yet but have the manual. There is a troubleshooting portion if that would help. Good luck!
