    Machine is a shinohara 52, 4 colour. printing SRA3

We are constantly having sheet miss register on this machine between decks.
When ever you have a higher coverage sheet, you can see that the sheets, are pulling out of the grippers between decks. This can be as far as 1mm, it is making make ready's a nightmare to try and get the sheet to fit.
The weird part is you can do a job on 350 GSM and its ok (Ok I understand it will be as its a thicker sheet) then go to 130 gsm gloss and one side of the sheet will be sort of in and the other side can be way out. You can cok the plates and get it in. and it will stay in most of the time.

Now, this machine from new never registered perfectly. Same as above set up on 350gsm run onto 130 GSM and you can't get the image to fit accross the whole sheet. or the top half of the sheet can be in but the buttom half the sheet looks splayed out, and it no longer fits accross the length of the sheet

Techs have continuously reset the grippers , helps for a while then problem comes back.. They state its poly plates / paper stretch / ink to tacky blah blah blah...

I call ********... If heil /Komor / Man / KBA can print on large large sheets and be able to have the job fit, then a Shinohara should be able to print SRA3..

Any shino operators out there.. Do you suffer from this, is it a design flaw of the way the sheet is held by the grippers?

I'm feed up with this, and I for one hate printing stuff thats not got a nice rossette where ever it should be accross the whole size of the sheet. Make ready's are a pitta, I'm at the point that if its not fixed, I will be looking at leaving to run a machine that can do what its built to do...

we had this when running plastic credit cards through the press. the gripper setting goes out and requires setting. Its a fault and bad design if you ask me

    machine maybe poorly installed

some faults made during installation may be totally disastrous when it comes to machine properly registering, especially a press with more than one unit. i would suggest get your technicians to level the machine and set the specified clearence between units. Otherwise they will keep doing what they are doing until Jesus comes.

Sorry i should have answered this previously. Youre quite correct, its ********. If your polyplates stretched they would do it whatever the substrate your printing as they dont come in contact with it.

In the meantime do this........switch off the impression. Feed your 130gsm stock through the press at until the sheet are delivered and still on feeder table. Press an emergency stop. From unit one check that each set/individual of cylinder grippers has hold of the sheet, check sheet is in grip when transfered (watch for pile up in delivery while inching/checking grippers). This will hopefully determine where the fault lies. Adjust or mark any problamatic grippers.

Personally i'd be insisting for new techs or threaten in taking them to court for supplying a sub standard machine and loss of earning if they dont get the pile of crap fixed or replace the machine.
