AB Dick, KBA, and Ryobi all have now introduced large common impression cylinders to reduce the number of gripper changes. Does this have a real world advantage?

Yes. I used to run 4 color on a 2 color Hamada with one impression cylinder. The registration was fantastic. It's also one less impression cylinder you need to clean and maintain throughout the life of the press.

I recently started printing on a ryobi with one big impression cylinder. And it's a mayor advantage. Registration is perfect, easier cleaning. And the paper curls less because it passes less cylinders. With love from belgium
