Is it necessary to use IR dryers when doing UV coating inline?

    no need

Uv ink or coating gets cured by the uv light from the uv dryer.
    Ir is another spectrum.
An air knife could give you interesting effects - but no need with uv

You are right Meny, but I read in a technical document that it helps in spreading UV coating evenly.

    i am listening :)

i am willing to listen to any smart idea , but the fact that someone wrote it in a manual has nothing to do with proof that it is good....
the heat from the IR dryer is small VS the UV heat (unless you have HUV / LED UV)
the IR spectrum has no impact on the UV coating and the heat is not a factor.
So , the only thing left is the air knife - this may have some impact but not as big as you may think.
If i wrote in a manual that by operating the IR with the UV dryer you will get the moon closer to earth..... :)
