    Hi Techos,
just bought a 1989 GTO 52 4 Colour VP. I am about to pull it apart and Move it. Are their any special requirements associated with locking cylinders or timing that I should be aware of before I start.
    Thanx
    Pete

be shure that specialists move it - not the caretaker.
It´s not a joke but some guys moved and reinstalled printing machines like an anvil.
So be carefull and use a precision water level.

Make sure your in straight print before you start. Split it between units 2+3, Lifts in two parts. Split the electric panel at the same point. there are timimg marks on the drive gears, make sure theyre all lined up before you split it. On the o.s. there is a link rod (impression arm) that passes through the casting that you must let go and take care not to break it when splitting the units.
You really should have some experiance in moving presses to do this job but its not that big of a job.

    clear and direct answer

if you want to move the press - use a fork lift

if you want the press to work ever after.....use a professional engineer & riggers.

This can be an expensive mistake to make - if you have money to spare , i can give you some ideas..... do not do it your self...
