Default Any 8-color guys on this site?

Just like it says. I am lead pressman on a 8-color speedmaster, and just wondering who all works on these beasts.

I just want to chat.

I print alot of yearbooks for schools in the U.K. and around the world. Seems after 20 years in the printing industry, I have almost seen it all!!

The 8-color I run is a 2001 model, and has it's challenges to say the least. We are in the midst of pulling rollers and cleaning things up for a new year of printing. I always like the feel of new rollers that are set properly. Makes for fun printing.

Over and out.

You can't beat new rollers........lol

The earlier long perfectors did have a few issues but they got better, as did the ink formulations.

Regards.

How long you been printing?

What kind of ink you using?

Komori eh? I'm a Heidelberg guy, but spent a few years feeding on a 4 color Komori. Worst years of my life!

When I ran a 5c Komori we ran Pertech ink. It ran really nice and was a stay open formula. Quick to dry even with heavy coverage. I liked it better than VanSon and Superior. The only thing I didn't like was the constant pigment change in the yellow and magenta between batches. We did a lot of repeat jobs and sometimes the color was a bitch to match to the last run. Other than that good stuff. As far as the Komori, nice running press but the electronics can drive you nuts chasing problems down.

Hey, as for electronics the Heidelbergs have their share of bullshit issues too!

We are in the midst of testing a new ink from SunChemical called Liberty ink. It's also a stay open type of ink that's supposed to only dry when air is removed (sheets in the pile). We had to try a different etch/sub, but it seems to be working good now.
