Hi, I was planning to buy a Heidelberg GTO 52 Press, but soome one is offering me a two colour Solna (Solna 225) in very good condition for the same price. Are Solnas dependable machines? Would it be better i buy the GTO?

Get the GTO, Solna presses are touchie and it's old, very old. They could print ok but it takes a good operator that knows the machine, were a GTO even a not so good operator can get a good print.

Buy the GTO, Solna is a duplicator, and does not print as good a halftone dot.

See, a Solna 225 bi color is not bad comparing to a GTO single color subject to the Solna condition should be ok. As far as I know age impact never falls on Heidelberg (it is an old saying about Heidelberg). But where the production rises, a bi-color unit will give the double work. I have a solna as well as a KORD (Heidelberg) and I fine no such significant differences in their individual productions, The both were bought old and still running effortlessly. Here I would add that Solna needs an operator of good skillfulness whereas a newbie even can handle a Heidelberg. Everything depends on the operator, a good operator can lessen the maintenance cost and improve the quality of printing even if the machine is a pretty old.

    Komori L640

I am looking at selling my Komori six color. It's 1990 with a coater and the extended delivery. It is presently running on our floor and with some little maintence the press could be in great shape. Does anyone out there have an idea what I should be seeking in terms of value?
